Treat with Care

Our core message is rooted in human well being. At the heart of Secure a Sharp is the Hippocratic oath –a dedication to the treatment of patients as humans first and foremost. “With care” means with intention. One very easy and effective way to treat with care is by eliminating any and all undue risk, and unsafe sharps disposal is a risk, both to patients and fellow clinicians.

Ashley Perry, Director – Hazardous Waste Services With extensive expertise in hazardous waste management and a knack for making complex information easy to understand, Ashley is a key resource for our clients. She leads our Environmental and Hazardous Waste team, focusing on providing healthcare facilities with safe and sustainable waste disposal solutions.

Responsibility

While regulatory compliance is critical, the responsibility we have as medical professionals to care for and keep patients and fellow clinicians safe is what drives us. Secure a Sharp is a simple mobile solution for safely disposing of medical sharps at point of disposal. Through its intuitive use and safe easy handling, Secure a Sharp helps to remove the risks associated with sharps disposal and enables clinicians to focus on patient care.

Protection

The safe handling and disposal of sharps (and the potential impact of blood borne pathogen exposure) is one of the most prominent health and safety concerns that clinicians will face in the workplace. According to research carried out by the American Nurses Association (ANA), about a third of nurses feel that sharps injures present a significant risk, and thirteen percent have sustained at least one sharps injury within the last five years. Sharps intervention strategies, including safe containers that can be used at the point of care, is essential to protecting our frontline healthcare workers.
